Regina LaBega is a trailblazer in Caribbean tourism and aviation, with over 35 years of shaping St. Maarten’s global identity. With a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Wells College and an MBA in International Marketing from Morgan State University (both cum laude), she began her career in education and politics before returning home to hold pivotal roles in both the public and private sectors — including Marketing Director of the Island Government and the first female head of the Department of Tourism.
LaBega made history again as the first woman to serve as Managing Director of Princess Juliana International Airport. Under her leadership, the airport underwent major transformation, securing a $132 million bond on Wall Street, becoming the first in the region with LED runway lights, and earning multiple international accolades — including being named the Best Airport in the Caribbean in 2016.
Her vision positioned SXM Airport as a top-tier regional hub and a leader in innovation and sustainability.Today, she continues to serve in key roles within the Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport, and Telecommunications, advising multiple Ministers with her unmatched expertise.
Widely respected across the region, Regina LaBega remains one of the most influential figures in Caribbean tourism, with a legacy built on excellence, integrity, and transformative leadership.

Tadzio Bervoets is a respected Caribbean environmental policy expert, marine ecologist, and regional thought leader in sustainable development. Born on St. Martin to a local mother and Belgian father, he holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and NGO Management from the University of South Florida and a Master’s in Environmental Resource Management from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in coral reef ecosystems.
Tadzio’s career spans global conservation and policy—from coral reef advisory work in Bermuda and community marine park development in Tanzania to leading major conservation efforts across the Dutch Caribbean. He served as Director of the St. Maarten Nature Foundation, where he established the island’s first National Park, and later led the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance, a network supporting environmental conservation on all six Dutch Caribbean islands.
Currently, he leads the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund’s BluEFin Project, creating innovative Blue Economy financing mechanisms, and chairs the Ocean Decade Task Force for Latin America and the Caribbean under UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission.
Tadzio is also a policy advisor to CARICOM and the Inter-American Development Bank and sits on several international environmental boards. He is the first Dutch Caribbean member of the prestigious Explorers Club and a recognized conservation awardee.
